Homeside Financial are Crooks! Run.....Run......

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My loan was handled by John who told us we were locked at a 6%. Just found out that John is gone and we are not locked in at all. John lied to me and many others. But Homeside will not make this right. This is not a very good company, no accountability , no morals. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR LOSE YOUR MONEY WITH THESE CROOKS...

Disorganized

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

It was bad from the beginning. First off, they hired an appraiser from 100 miles away which I thought was weird.

I talked to him to set up the day and time, gave him my address. I took a day off of work, lost a days wages, and no one showed up. I called the appraiser and he acted like he didn't have anything on his schedule- guessing he realized it was too far to travel. It took another month before they could get someone else so the closing was dragged out.

Then we had an insurance claim. The check got sent to the loss draft dept along with the rest of the paperwork Homeside required, and after a couple of weeks of waiting they claimed it wasnt endorsed properly so instead of calling or emailing which may of cleared the misunderstanding up they sent it back, I immediately endorse per their instructions and sent back. After 3 weeks of them saying they haven't received it yet, I had insurance company issue a new check which i was going to drive down with it, luckily I called before i left and then they said they had it. However it was still weeks before I received their check.

By this time, I missed out on close to $4000 in material rebates, plus materials took another spike up since i first got an estimate to rebuild. I sent several messages to try and speed things along, none were responded to. The contractor had a break in his schedule but now the delays are cutting into his next project, plus construction could of been done before the real cold hit. I called to set up an inspection so I could get another progress payment, the girl said she couldn't set this up because they didn't receive the required forms (never mind they wouldn't of sent the first check if those forms weren't sent in.

) The money I saved by refinancing has all been used up and then some by this disorganization. No agent has been assigned so I have been talking to a different person each time.Tay t

Unprecedented incompetence

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Unprecedented incompetence. I have owned properties and had mortgages for the last 35 years.

In the last year that Ive had three home side mortgages I havent had nothing but problems! They consistently post payments to the wrong account, charge late fees for payments made on time, they even miss read a check and withdrew $5000 extra from my bank! I have been trying for over a month to get the refund for the $5000 that they over processed. At first they told me it was my banks fault.

Granted my bank shouldve caught it as well but homesite is the one that has my money. They have been telling me for weeks that I would get my refund but I havent. On top of that the day I was supposed to get my refund they actually took another $5000 out of my account!

Unprecedented level of incompetence! Avoid homeside!

I wish I could give them -5.... These guys are cheat and they never send you the balance they owe to you. upon calling them, they will give you all false information and upon questioning them about the details, they will either hang up on you or close the chat connection too. They are holding my escrow payment for 6 weeks now since I had closed the loan with the full payment. I am going to take legal action against them and will seek compensation for this trauma and interest on my money which they are holding. Please DON'T get into their trap. they are CHEAT and FRAUD

Frustration

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Homeside Financial makes many mistakes. Important mistakes.

One department gives different information than another.

I have a few that have happened through the years but the most recent was my being told by a rep in response to my question that PMI can be removed if house appraises for more that 80% of the LTV. I was told to send $425 check for appraisal which I did with clearly printed letter denoting the purpose of the check.

When I rec'd no follow-up, I called. Check had been applied to mortgage principle. During this call, I was told the PMI cannot be deleted with an appraisal.

I asked to speak to a supervisor who confirmed this.

The aggravation is that I don't know when to believe this morgtage company. Which person is right?

It is my monthly income that is affected.

I have two other instances like this with Homeside that have taken my day off making unfruitful phone calls. letter for purpose of check.

Unbelievable very bad experience! From the 3rd of October 2020 until now the 10th of April 2021 the underwriter still working on the file, they are asking the same docs every week! And every week they change their mind, they scheduled the settlement date several times, they ordered three appraisals and make me pay for it with out any serious action. Honestly very bad experience I will decide behalf the underwriter and start applying with other financial company no more pressure no more wasting of the time and money for more appraisals

DO NOT USE THIS LENDER !!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We used Homeside Financial in Ocean City, MD in October 2019. Tom Ford was the agent. The mortgage was sold a month later and they failed to notify us. We kept sending payments to Homeside for 9 months. We got a letter from the new mortgage company in July 2020 that we were 2 payments behind. This was when we learned it was sold to them in Oct. 2019. Now my credit rating has dropped and interest rates have gone up on my credit cards because of this. Tom refuses to do anything. Very unprofessional. He got his money so he doesn't care about his clients. I would not recommend this agency !!!! During the process Tom Ford and his staff were not pleasant to deal with either.

Go somewhere else

I am a real estate veteran and a past professional. I went to use Homeside as my long term friend went to work there as a LO.

I had a horrific experience and it continues during the times of Covid-19.

I am a flight attendant and used them to finance my home purchase. They did not tell me till way into the process that due to the airline pay structure they will only count a portion of my income and subsequently I had to take a cash out and a loan from my 401K and depleted every Penny from my savings just to close on the transaction. I now have no reserves and with Covid I am not working and waiting for unemployment. I contacted them on April 1 and the had me go to online portal to request adjustment.

I answered that I had no job or other income and it told me that it could not pre-qualify me (who would qualify if not me) and they would contact me. They never did. I just filed another request with them over their new automated phone system.

I truly do not like this company as they are even worse than your usual impersonal soulless giants. I can't wait to refinance with my Credit Union once this is all back to normal and I can fly again.

It is my opinion that this company get you set up with very agreeable terms, and then uses low appraisal values to add additional interest to the proposed loan that was agreed to before hand. To make matters worse, you have to pay for the appraisal upfront.

Worst Company Ever

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I contacted Homeside through Lendingtree.com Geza was at first very personable and told me he could absolutely help me with what i was wanting to do. I first corresponded with him on Aug 7th of 2018 it is now September 21st, and where things sit now are I have spent over $1000 on not 1 but 2 appraisals!

one has now been refunded because i proved it came in to low. Time and time again he was not reachable by phone and never responded to emails, filled my head with broken promises of when we could close on a refi and HELOC, only to ultimately tell me i never qualified for the loan. I had a weird feeling since the start and should have listen to my gut, he is a smooth talking salesman than hooked me because of the hard situation I was in with my current loan. He offered solutions that were highly un-ethical not to mention potential illegal, I will forever be regretful for the time i spent trying to work with this company.

They sell you on all the positive reviews they have online, but never tell you about the 12 complaints filed with the BBB in the last year.

No matter how bad your situation is, they will make it worse. Don't walk Run the other way from Homeside Financial.

Matthew Mikel / Branch Manager at Homeside financial

This guy doesn't know what he's doing at all. He provided a pre-approval certificate to the buyers based on guessing game. He probably never checked the real income of the buyers out but confidently provided a pre-approval certificate and we later found out that the buyers can't get a loan from any lenders based on their current income. After figuring out that the buyers can't get a loan, he didn't exist, no phone answering and avoid all e-mail communications, etc. How coward he is and unprofessional. He should go back to the hotel front desk where he used to work and he's not qualified to be a loan officer at all.
